Most people associate the World Series of Poker with pomp and spectacle. What people don’t remember, is the physical and mental endurance that’s required to last in these events. Even experienced online players won’t have experienced the kind of strain required in a huge live tournament. Working through a bodog rakeback bonus won’t prepare you for this.
One of the top money poker sites, VC Poker, have been preparing their players for a run at glory with the WSOP Warrior Super League. This money would be spread between at least 100 players who proved themselves consistent winners over the course of the whole league.
All eight tournaments were of the No Limit Hold ‘em variety. Unlike your standard poker contest, the league format required that players bought into every event at the same time. The set fee was only a $300 + $20 poker deposit to enter all 8 events, with cut-price options available for the remaining tournaments as the league progressed. Having a more modest bankroll didn’t rule you out completely. Satellites for all 8 events started at $1.00 + $0.10. Whether you were a download or a flash texas holdem player, there were plenty of chances to get involved.
The competition was fierce in every single event, with compatible casinos high class players battling to win leaderboard points. First place would net you 50 points, but you’d receive at least something as far down as 200th. When the first 8 events were over, all of the points were gathered up and the final leaderboard revealed. If you’d performed well enough to finish inside the top 200 players, you were on your way to the VC Poker Grand Final.
This was where things got serious, with twice as many points on offer for every place. Those in the bottom half had their work cut out, as it would be only the top 100 players who would pick up VC Poker WSOP prizes. So these players really had to take an online video poker style gamble. The eventual number one finisher was MousePlaya, joined in 2nd by lllllillliiiiiiiiiilllllllllll, and in 3rd by ague007.
Those near the top of the leaderboard were gifted the pick of the rewards, especially the man in 1st place. MousePlaya is now the proud owner of a $25,000 WSOP Warrior Package. This includes entry to Event #56 and the Main Event, along with $7,000 in spending money. A prize way better than any bwin poker bonus. Beneath that there were a whole range of different packages, decreasing in value as you move down the ranks. The 2nd place prize was still well worth winning, a ME & Side Events Package that included entries into Events #49, #56, and Main Event, with the added bonus of $3.5k in spending money. Down at the bottom of the scale, those in 31st to 100th were receiving $370 freeroll tokens.
